Once again, Miss Fearnley is claiming this to be her last word on the matter, something she also stated over three years ago. She nonetheless published the following on 8 September 2010:
"Unlike some people who seem to live well and truly in the past, in fact my life is very full and interesting. So to say that I need to get a proper life is a bit rich again. Try pot calling the kettle black, it's obvious that you do not remember what was said to me that night, because you were quite clearly in a alcoholic stupor as per normal. But no worries. Seeing as this is the very last post on the subject matter from now on it remains closed, dead and buried."
She is addressing Mr Farrant with these remarks, which are supposedly her last for the time being, but in her two interviews with Mr Hogg she attacks both her ex-boyfriend and Bishop Se'an Manchester in equal measure, which, of course, is precisely what Mr Hogg anticipated and indeed wanted.

FoBSM, therefore, felt justified in setting the record straight with its own blog in the tradition of "veritas vos liberabit". Will this be the end of the matter? Probably not. But, at least, it might be the beginning of the end...It soon becomes apparent upon examination of the history of these stalkers of Bishop Se'an Manchester on the preceding entries that they share in common an unhealthy obsession with the person at the centre of events forty years ago as much as the case itself. Half of those harassing him were not born when the incidents were ensuing, and all of them have an agenda which is as much to do with the bishop's beliefs, orthodoxy and traditionalism as anything else. These compulsive individuals have not met the bishop, and those who have spoken to him in person, "ie" Mrs Green and Mr Farrant, last did so a quarter of a century ago. These stalkers are clearly for the most part poorly educated and of exceptionally low intellect. In at least two or three instances some of those identified on this blog betray behavioural patterns of the feeble-minded. One person in particular stands out where demonic possession has to be a serious consideration, and varying degrees of demonic influence on the others cannot be entirely dismissed.

So why are we talking about any of these wretched people on this blog? Why are we possibly fuelling their insatiable appetite for attention? Why are we even bothering to mention them in view of the bishop's own policy to ignore such people? It is largely because, with one or two exceptions, these harassing stalkers communicate with members of the episcopate and the clergy in the Church and some of these priests actually take notice of them. Hence one of these individuals was told by her parish priest not to have any contact with Bishop Manchester. How did the priest in Yorkshire even know of Bishop Manchester whose spiritual home is Glastonbury? We happen to know for a fact that one the detractors (convicted of desecration, vandalism and making black magic threats) has corresponded with the Bishop of Leeds and other priests within the Roman Catholic Church. Why anyone would listen to this convicted felon in the first place is bizarre and reflects poorly on the way some clergy in the modern Church have drifted away from scriptural teachingss when faced with these issues. Ironically, and without exception, the bishop's detractors hold opposing views to him on scriptural prohibitions. Some of them, of course, are openly hostile towards anything Christian, but this blog has concentrated on those who harass and stalk the bishop while claiming to be Christian themselves. The obvious exceptions are the pseudo-occultists David Farrant, Gareth Medway and their anonymous hangers-on, including the self-proclaimed Satanist and "master of the black arts" John Russell Pope who these days has become relatively obscure. Anthony Hogg describes himself as a Baptist. Ex-Anglican Barbara Green converted to Roman Catholicism in 2007, as did Catherine Fearnley who was a former pagan and witch. These three are behaving against the tenets of Christianity by making repeated personal attacks and harassing Bishop Se'an Manchester who finds himself in harmony with Pope Benedict XVI in many ways, and certainly welcomed the pontiff's visit to the United Kingdom last month. Bishop Manchester is in agreement with Benedixt XVI over the fact that it is far better to have a smaller Church with members who hold fast to scriptural teachings and orthodox doctrine than a massive Church where members question and frequently dismiss the teachings of the Church according to their own likes and dislikes.

On a new BLOG, Lewellyn author, Raven Grimassi, recently accused me of misrepresenting the facts about Grimassi and his Italian witchcraft tradition. In reality, the exact opposite is true: Raven Grimassi, his students, and his associates have for months now been misrepresenting the facts about the Del Bosco Sacro Pagan family tradition, its elders, and myself. This assertion is easily verifiable in two highly defamatory threads on Yahoo groups.
One example of libelous misrepresentation by Mr. Grimassi concerned his writing on Yahoo that the: "majority of the reviews were not complimentary" regarding the recent appearance of Diana and Dianus del Bosco Sacro at Pantheacon 2011. This libelous misrepresentation stands in stark contrast to actual reviews from those who were there, including respected bloggers and Pagan authors, for example, HERE and HERE.
Italian Witch - Raven Grimassi
Raven Grimassi has apparently not yet realized how damaging one Pagan tradition libeling another in this manner is to the entire Pagan community, as Grimassi continues to spread libelous misrepresentations other Italian Pagan traditions until today. In his recent article, Grimassi adds the libelous inference that the Del Bosco Sacro family tradition claims to be the "one and only, true Italian witchcraft tradition."
Mr. Grimassi suggests that we are somehow questioning the authenticity of his Italian witchcraft tradition. This is certainly not the case. Perhaps Mr. Grimassi has confused us with someone else. It was not the Del Bosco Sacro family tradition, but rather anthropologist, Sabina Magliocco, who wrote that Grimassi's "family" tradition more closely resembles those of hedge witches and conjurers than it does any ancient Pagan tradition.
The Del Bosco Sacro family tradition certainly does not claim to be any sort of "one and only, true Italian witchcraft tradition." On the contrary, it was Del Bosco Sacro that first revealed the survival until today of numerous Italian Pagan family traditions including the Animulari, Clan Nemorensino, Janare, Benandanti, Cogas (or Surbile), Strie, Magare, Anguane, Majiare, Maiare, Masche, Bazure, and Clan Umbro.
Unlike Neo-Pagan Italian witchcraft traditions in America, these surviving family traditions in Italy today remain practitioners of l'Arte Eccelsa (The Sublime Art), which bears more resemblance to shamanic traditions around the world than it does to any Neo-Pagan tradition, including that of Mr. Grimassi.
It is therefore unsurprising that Raven Grimassi had no idea of the existence of l'Arte Eccelsa in Italy and that he remains ignorant of the deeper mysteries of The Great Rite. As a Neo-Pagan tradition, it is also unsurprising that that Grimassi's Stregheria bears closer resemblance to Wicca in America than it does to the l'Arte Eccelsa in Italy.
This certainly does not mean, however, that Mr. Grimassi's Italian witchcraft tradition is somehow fake or inauthentic. On the contrary, all of this is becomes quite understandable when one considers that Raven Grimassi's Stregheria derives from the folk magic of the peasant class.
L'Arte Eccelsa, on the contrary, is a high Pagan tradition which has been preserved and transmitted exclusively along family lines of Italian nobility. In fact, this completely explains the prodigious differences between Raven Grimassi's Stregheria and the del Bosco Sacro di Nemi family tradition of l'Arte Eccelsa.
Mr. Grimassi's libelous intent becomes clear in his article when Grimassi resurrects a misrepresentation that he and his associates directed against our tradition several months ago - and that we refuted at that time as well. This proves Mr. Grimassi's defamatory agenda beyond the shadow of any doubt.
On May 21, Raven Grimassi wrote:
"I also have a problem with the idea of initiating people on first meeting. I asked them about it and they replied that this is their structure and how the system functions. They inform me that after initiation the training begins, but that initiation and oath-taking is required before anything else. They have no "outer court" phase. It's alien to what I was taught by my native Italian teachers. But, to be fair, witchcraft differs in each region of Italy. There is no "one size fits all" - but even so.....further questions are begged."
Here Grimassi adroitly attempts to raise questions about our authenticity due to our liberal policy regarding probationers. We already have dispelled this libel previously, on January 29, when we wrote:
"Compared to other Stregheria Traditions, our Tradition is admittedly rather liberal about admitting probationers. We are, however, extremely elitist regarding who will ever be admitted to our Thrid Degree or adopted into the del Bosco Sacro family tradition."
To this I now add that Raven Grimassi's continuing misrepresentation is as preposterous as it is libelous. It should be obvious to anyone that an Italian Pagan tradition deriving from high Italian nobility, as does l'Arte Eccelsa, is inherently far more exclusive than any "Italian witchcraft tradition" deriving from the folk magic of peasantry.

AMERICA'S DECLINE IN CHURCH ATTENDANCE-- MARTIN E. MARTY
Pope Benedict XVI has expressed grave concern over the decline of church participation in Western Europe. His trip to the UK last week provided opportunities for him to address it. Most commentators in religious and secular communications found almost nothing that he said or did which might help reverse the downward trends. The fact that large crowds appeared at several of his appearances did not impress them; throngs line up for popes as celebrities. I've asked after each of Pope John Paul's travels, which often drew masses of young people: did his Pope-mobiled words and gestures, eloquent though they be, lead any young man to enter the seminary ranks with intention to become ordained? Did mass attendance swell a month or a year later? Maybe the answer is yes, but it's hard to find evidence.
Observation of the North American scene and data gathered by many polling agencies provide a cause for separating this continent's milder declines from the plot which defines Europe today. So sudden have been the marked trends showing disaffection that leaders have not internalized the evidence. Exceptions? Yes, for now, Latino/a Roman Catholics sign up enough to keep the Catholic rolls deceptively high, if only relatively. For now, some astute, market-oriented mega-churches keep prospering, though even among them opinion-pollers and people-counters see signs which prompt concern.
Those who do care and who set out to address the issue of decline begin in a state of alarm. I was recently on a panel with an official who knew all about weapons of mass destruction, from nukes to germ-warfare capsules. Someone asked, "Knowing all that, how do you sleep?" He answered, "I sleep like a baby-for fifteen minutes, and then I wake up crying." But sleeping or crying does not help and will not help people who seek to address the issues signified in the trends.
Some graphs and paragraphs in Lovett H. Weems, Jr.'s "Christian Century" show that from 1994 to 2000, two of four studied mainline Protestant church bodies showed modest gains and two others saw only modest losses. But from 2001 to 2008 the "growing" United Methodist Church saw the greatest plunge (-17.86%), and its losses were almost matched in the other three. Disconcerting to church-growth experts was Weems's note that in the earlier decade, greatest growth was among the largest local churches-but that in the more recent decade, the largest among them suffered most decline.
Some readers may wonder why in columns like this, which are to be about "public religion," we talk about church and synagogue (etc.) attendance and participation--aren't their institutions part of "private religion?" Emphatically no. They are the bearers of traditions, the living expositors of sacred texts, the tellers of stories, the troop-suppliers for voluntary activities, the shapers of values fought over in the political realms.
Why are they declining? Certainly not because a few atheists write best-sellers. I always look for the simplest causes, such as rejection of drab and conflicted congregations and denominations. Or changes in habits. I watch the ten thousands running past in Sunday marathons or heading to the kids' soccer games and recall that their grandparents and parents kept the key weekend times and places open for sacred encounters. Oh, and "being spiritual" is not going to help keep the stories, the language of ethics, and the pool of volunteers thriving. Their disappearance has consequences.
