This is the second installment of "BEWARE THE CAPTIVE INNOCENTS". It's best to start with the beginning before proceeding with the continuation of the story below.
Jackson set the buckets of food scraps and water down at the foot of the steps. A couple of rats, waiting for their chance to feast, seemed perturbed at his presence and moved slowly into the shadows as he reached for his keys. His eyes hadn't yet adjusted to the dimness, but as Jackson's hefty body shoved open the creaky, heavy old door, a putrid odor made him stop short with a sneer and hold his breath.
He had made this trip to the cellar too many times to remember over the past couple of months, taking turns with William and Marcus. He loathed having to deal with the heathens, held captive inside, even more than he hated the smell of unwashed human flesh and waste. Why they didn't just hang the Witches and be done with them seemed senseless to him, but he dared not speak against the King's Law.
"FILTHY WITCHES!" he cursed in a deep, gravelly voice. "DON'T KNOW WHY WE FEED THE LIKES OF YOU WHEN OUR OWN GO HUNGRY!".
Jillian looked up at Jackson just in time to watch him snort and spit into the bucket of food scraps he was about to serve them. Her stomach fought between pangs of hunger and the urge to vomit. As it flip-flopped, a bit of bile rose in her throat as she swallowed back extra spittle and painfully held it there - with her throat closed off - til the nausea passed.
Her dizzying lack of iron made her head ache as tiny, swirling black and white spots moved before her eyes. The sensation was cut short by the jerk of her arms as Jackson pulled at her chains. "HERE WITCH!". He dumped some of the bucket of food onto a filthy tin plate at her feet and sloshed water from the other bucket into a battered drinking cup. She watched as the food scraps spilled out, hoping they wouldn't fall onto the dirt floor that was soaked with her own urine. Jillian's dress, now a mere scrap of tattered and dirty green fabric, shifted off of her shoulder as she reached for her meal. The waistline hung near her hip as if the dress had been two sizes too big. Shaking, she reached for a cold slab of ham as Jackson moved toward old Simone.
Jackson peered oddly at the old woman as he grabbed a handful of her matted, long gray hair and began to lift her slumped head. "Resistance". Rigor mortis was already beginning to set in. He kicked at her calf. Nothing. All at once, Simone's head jerked upward - staring up blankly toward Jackson's face with her own dead eyes - from her folded position on the floor, the twist of her neck was unnatural. Two hundred and sixty pounds of burly weight jumped backward as quick as a frog might leap from a snake to avoid becoming its' meal. Jackson stood, trembling and sweating. "THE OLD WOMAN IS DEAD!" His thoughts screamed in his head as he tried to convince himself. Just then, a throaty whisper came - without benefit of movement from Simone's bluish lips..."THEESE ARE NOT WITCHESSS. WITCHES ARE NOT EEVIL - LOOK WITHIINN". "Before Jackson could remember to breathe, the old lady's head returned to its' slumped position. His heart pounded violently in his chest. He glanced round the cell and realized he had been the only one to witness the event or hear the voice.
Sarah looked at him queerly from across the shadowed cellar. Jackson turned and left abruptly, fumbling with shaking hands to lock the cellar door securely behind him. His legs, heavy as tree trunks, shook violently making it hard to scale the steps to the safety waiting above-ground. He emerged into the sunlight, breathing heavily and trying to compose himself. He nearly plowed into William. "WHAT'S GOT YOU RILED? DEM WEETCHES CURSE YA, DID THEY?", William chuckled at his own joke. "LOOKS LIKE YOU SEEN A GHOST JACKIE BOY". Recovering slightly, Jackson wiped the sweat off his upper lip and replied, "WE GOT US A DEAD ONE. NEED TO GIT 'ER OUT". He was surprised his throat could produce any sound as he spoke. Abruptly, Jackson left William to assess the situation and made his way quickly across the courtyard to the barracks. He collapsed onto his bunk with a thud. The front of his trousers were soaked - he had pissed himself without even realizing it.

Jillian's hunger, for the time-being, had been satiated. Her senses had returned to near-normal by the time she had finished the dried bread and ham. The only drawback being that as her consciousness returned, so did her awareness of the pain in her body. Her thoughts swarmed around the recent death of her beloved chamber-mate - her body long-since removed from it's shackles by two of the guards, the trials - and probable executions - scheduled for Jillian, Mary and Sarah the following day, and the sensations building within her since her plea on the previous afternoon. She recalled some of the visions which had faded in and out of her sleep during the night..
...an enchanting woman in white-flowing robes riding a high-stepping, sleek, black horse; the brightness of sunshine - in the usually dim-gray rainy weather of England - nearly blinding her with it's reflection; and the sound of hundreds of people yelling, crying and gasping at once.

Unable to move and unable to escape, images of childhood memories, the lessons he had learned about evil beings, and his promises to God to obey His will flashed by...
Jackson fell asleep with images of the flames of Hell licking up his body...higher...hotter. Held prisoner to his nightmare, the ghostly forms of all those he'd seen tortured and killed - in the name of Witchcraft - looking upon him and laughing...

Hey All~
TGIF! Are you enjoying Friday? I am. It is now the begining of Spring Break for my Munchkns. YAY! One whole week of sleeping in, (a little), no school, no homework...and lot's o free play time! Woo Hoo!
Today I volunteered in J.D.'s Kindergarten class for their Easter Egg Hunt. So much fun watching the little ones scramble around trying to get their loot! :) And now, I am getting ready to go watch his T-Ball game. Oh to be young again. Well, at least I get to enjoy childhood once more through their eyes.
I wanted to take a minute to say Hello to my new readers from this week. WELCOME and MERY MEET! I am happy that you have found Crafty's Cup; and I hope that you all find something here that you enjoy. (I am having a ball writing it. I wish I had started a blog ages ago!)

M'exico tambi'en esta en celebraci'on de Samhain, uno de los festivales m'as importante para todos nosotros, si no el m'as importante. Para mi lo es. Pues de M'exico, nuestro hermano y brujo Duende, nos hace llegar su aportaci'on a esta festividad y nos da unos consejitos para que tengamos una noche m'agica...Gracias Duende, abrazos desde Puerto Rico y todos los dem'as pa'ises hermanos que formamos esta gran familia. Transcribo la informaci'on, agradeciendo a nuestro brujo hermano y continuando los preparativos, para lo que parece ser una celebraci'on M'agica para todos. Que rico pertenecer a la religi'on que pertenecemos, pero que rico es compartirla con la gente que se est'an desarrollando en el movimiento. Estos brujos de hoy, muchos de ellos; ser'an los Gerald Gardner del ma~nana. Y seg'un leemos de la historia de donde vino la religi'on y como se desarroll'o. Se sabr'a que hubo muchos en el siglo 21 con la llegada de la nueva tecnolog'ia del Internet, que ayudaron a mantenerla viva y a seguir en su evoluci'on; lo crean o no, estamos haciendo historia; y nosotros Puerto Rico Wicca nos sentimos orgullosos de poder contar con estos brujos de habla hispana que se igualan o superan a los grandes brujos de habla inglesa. TIPS PARA CELEBRAR SAMHAIN
Como bien sabemos la mayor'ia del grupo de WICCA MONTERREY, se acerca una de las m'aximas celebraciones en la rueda del a~no pagano SAMHAIN, conocido popularmente como "noche de brujas", HALLOWEEN o D'IA DE MUERTOS (en M'exico). Esta celebraci'on tradicionalmente es festejada los d'ias 31 de octubre al 2 de noviembre. Los wiccans homenajeamos la muerte del Dios, lo despedimos y festejamos la tercera y 'ultima cosecha.
Y bien, llegando esa fecha m'agica, les voy a proporcionar ideas, que a largo de los a~nos y en conjunto con la tradici'on wicca se acostumbran hacer en esos d'ias, y los cuales yo he experimentado de manera exitosa... Esto lo puedes trabajar en tu grupo, coven o en solitario.
Primero que nada, debemos tomar en cuenta que el tiempo de Samhain es un tiempo 'unico, donde el velo que separa el mundo de los vivos del de los muertos es muy, pero muy tenue, delgad'isimo, por lo que aconsejo, como primera instancia, si vas a tener contacto con tus ancestros, familiares, mascotas o amigos ya fallecidos, lo hagas con PROFUNDO AMOR Y RESPETO...no se recomienda de ning'un modo NI BAJO NINGUNA CIRCUNSTANCIA la utilizaci'on de objetos espiritistas como la tan popular tabla ouija o intentar "bajar" espiritus o cualquier actividad m'edium sin experiencias previas (Yo no lo recomendar'ia ni siquiera con experiencia en ese terreno).
Por otro lado, el reino del SIDHE (el reino de las hadas) est'a muy cercano a nosotros, por lo cual tambi'en es un d'ia perfecto para tener contacto con los elementales.
Debes estar preparado o preparada para SOLTAR, PARA DEJAR ATR`AS, para meditar sobre todo aquello que ha muerto en nosotros (ideas, amores, emociones, sentimientos). Debeos meditar sobre lo que es la muerte, y recordar que para renacer hay qu'e morir. PERO PARA MORIR TENEMOS QUE VIVIR Y DESPERTAR. Hacer conciencia, soltar.
Puedes decorar tu mesa con un bonito mantel que represente el oto~no como el color naranja o caf'e. Incluso puedes utilizar un color de TRANSMUTACI'ON como el negro, o el violeta (morado) para representar la muerte del Dios. Adorna con flores de temporada, en M'exico en los d'ias de muertos utilizamos el Cempas'uchil que es una flor amarilla de la familia de los crisantemos. Puedes poner un jarr'on con estas flores...O con los p'etalos de los cempas'uchil o los crisantemos puedes formar un pent'aculo (estrella de cinco puntas).
Utiliza manzanas rojas, para decorar tu altar o mesa, frutas de la temporada, como granadas, nueces, uvas o peras. Esas mismas pueden servir como OFRENDA tanto como para los Dioses, como para tus personas fallecidas.
Decora un espacio de tu casa, o quiz'as incluso en tu propio altar, con fotos, objetos y cosas que hayan pertenecido a aqu'el ser que se ha ido de este mundo pero que tu llevas fervientemente en tu coraz'on, adorna el espacio con flores, pon para 'el o ella su platillo favorito, pan de muerto (que es tradicional de M'exico, pero puede ser cualquier pan azucarado), una representaci'on de la muerte (puede ser una calaverita de az'ucar o chocolate, alg'un esqueleto de papel) un vaso con agua, su libro preferido, algo que haya sido de su m'aximo agrado en el plano terrenal ( bebidas, fruta, cigarros, etc.)...No olvides poner un cuenco con sal, para purificar a los esp'iritus. Este ser'a tu peque~no homenaje a tus difuntos, y puedes poner a todos ellos juntos o por peque~nos altares separados. TU PROPIO ALTAR DE MUERTOS.
Para la representaci'on de la Diosa en su fase de Anciana, bruja o arp'ia, recomiendo una vela de color Naranja que represente los colores que tiene su 'ultima cosecha...y para el Dios que muere una Negra, o Violeta, por el luto en el que nos encontraremos hasta su renacer en Yule.
Utiliza incienso de copal o de s'andalo.
! 'Unete a la celebraci'on disfraz'andote de aquello que siempre quisiste ser, en este d'ia puedes serlo sin miedos o restricciones...! No olvides que estaremos en el umbral entre dos mundos, as'i que debemos "despistar" a los esp'iritus malignos, por eso es tan importante disfrazarse, adem'as de divertido...ES NUESTRO D'IA DEBEMOS CELEBRARLO EN GRANDE!
Talla una calabaza y ponle una cara divertida o grotesca, col'ocala a la entrada de tu casa, eso evitar'a que cualquier entidad negativa entre en tu hogar en esas oscuras noches.
Para tu banquete puedes degustar tamales, tostadas de ma'iz con fr'ijol y verduras, pastel de carne (que es m'as elaborado), palomitas de ma'iz, manzanas acarameladas, pastel de manzana...No importa que no sea tan elaborado! Recuerda siempre que lo m'as sencillo es lo m'as especial siempre! NO OLVIDES LOS DULCES
Puedes dejar leche y mantequilla en la ventana de tu hogar por la noche para que las hadas visiten tu hogar.
Puedes tambi'en tomar una manzana y dejarla debajo de un 'arbol en alguna calle o camino, como ofrenda para todas aquellas 'animas solas que viajan sin rumbo fijo.
UNA ACTIVIDAD MUY TRADICIONAL QUE NO PUEDE FALTAR EN ESTA FECHA, ES ANOTAR EN UN PAPEL TODO AQUELLO QUE NO DESEAS TENER YA EN TU VIDA, POR EJEMPLO, ENFERMEDADES, RENCORES, ENEMIGOS, TRISTEZAS, POBREZA, ETC...Y QUEMARLO EN EL CALDERO (SI NO TIENES CALDERO UTILIZA UNA VASIJA DE METAL O BARRO Y PON DEEBAJO DE ELLA TRES PIEDRAS REPRESENTANDO A LA DIOSA TRIPLE Y COMO "PATITAS") AGREGA ALCOHOL...Y DILE ADI'OS PARA SIEMPRE A ESO!
