On time an old preacher was telling a story of the first time he came forward as a young lad to accept Christ.

As he walked up the aisle one man cried out "Hold on."

Then another cried out, "Let loose."

Later still a woman came up and said, "

When I was converted a big light hit me in the face and knocked me cold."

In relating the story the ole preacher commented, "Between trying to hold on, let loose and look for the light I almost missed the Kingdom."

In short, don't judge yourself by what others have felt.

God made us all separate entities and all cannot have a Damascus road experience.

For some it is a slow process but no less real or soul deep or meaningful.

For some it is a gentle laying on of the hands of Christ as "The peace that passeth understanding makes its inroads."

For some it is an intellectual journey...men like Lew Wallace, a famous general, literary genius and well known atheist.

For two years he studied in the leading libraries of Europe and America, seeking information that would forever destroy Christianity. Then one day while writing the second chapter of the book dedicated to destroying faith he suddenly found himself on his knees crying out to Jesus, "My Lord and my God."

Later he wrote Ben Hur, one of the greatest English novels ever written concerning the time of Christ.

Another literary giant and agnostic, C.S. Lewis, professor at Oxford University in England denied the deity of Christ for years. But finally with

Intellectual honesty, he submitted his soul to Jesus. The overwhelming evidence that this Christ of the open road was the Son of God could not be denied.

He wrote countless books to prove the existence of this Lord, Mere Christianity being the most well known of the lot.

An emotional experience...an experience of the mind...whatever the reason or a combination of reasons the truth of this Savior has reached so many who could have in their fame felt otherwise.

"A man of colossal dimensions," wrote Ernest Renan of Jesus, this scholar who at first tried to tear the Bible to pieces and finally relented before the eternal truth.

Shakespeare, "I commend my soul into the hands of God..."

"...I came not to call the righteous,

epentance."

~ Mark 2:17

Tolstoi, "...in the proper acceptance of the word, nihilist, a man who believed in nothing...(and then) my faith came to me...I believed in the doctrine of Jesus Christ and my whole life underwent a sudden transformation..."

" I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." Mark 2:17
